J’adore Château de Versailles

IMG_1150Since I am a huge fan of French history and stories about Marie Antoinette, Versailles is one of my favourite places. The enormous size of gardens with their many fountains and green fields definitely made my day. Marie Antoinette’s life and extravagance should be a good enough reason to bring you to her beautiful private chambers. Here you will see the most amazing royal furniture with pretty colours and breath taking flower patterns. I was paying attention to the small details which were and still are a huge inspiration to many designers.
I made some photos inside the Palace….and added some history about this beautiful place. Please enjoy:

Below you will see the portrait of Queen Marie Leszczynska by Jean-Baptiste van Loo. Marie was a daughter of the dethroned king of Poland and was married to Louis XV. It is stunning how she was painted...especially the details of her dress...You can almost feel the fabric. You can see it in the Salon de Mars (Mars Drawing Room) where the king's guards were staffed while on duty.IMG_1060IMG_1063In the next photo is La Galerie des Glaces (The Hall of Mirrors), it’s the central gallery and most remarkable feature of King Louis XIV's third building campaign of the Château de Versailles.

The Queen's bedchamber. Near the bed is barely discernible 'hidden door' in the corner close to the jewel cabinet by Schwerdfeger through which Marie Antoinette escaped the night of 5/6 October 1789 when the Paris mob stormed Versailles.

There is a beautiful exhibition “The Splendour of Painting” which shows the works of one of the most gifted painters of the Royal Manufactory of porcelain in the 18th century, Charles Nicolas Dodin. Today some of his work is owned by the greatest collectors of porcelain. During forty-nine years at the Royal Manufactory, Dodin made the most outstanding pieces for the kings and their entourage...in particular the mistresses of Louis XV and also for some foreign rulers such as Catherine II of Russia.

Can you imagine to walk through this paradise every morning, surrounded by most beautiful roses and trees? I think even to just to make wedding here would be fabulous! I am nature fanatic and this kind of scenery simply leaves me speechless.

At The Le Grand Trianon you can see very exciting pieces from the Napoleonic era. In order to see all of Versailles I would recommend spending an entire day there and definitely arrive in the morning and to avoid the long lines.
I wore Massimo Dutti crochet dress, Chanel bag, Oakley Bacon sunglasses, Elisabetta Franchi belt and Longines watch. IMG_1027IMG_1121IMG_1126IMG_1197IMG_1203
