So I was at the fabulous Guess event a couple weeks back and I received a super fun goodie bag filled with all things Guess…and nothing is more “Guess” than their signature red color. So, of course…a lot of the things in the bag were in this direction…red.
These two things caught my eye and totally peak my interest:
The nail color is just ridiculous chic…it was create for Guess by Opi and it’s called “Kept ‘em GUESS-ing for 30 years”.
But what was super special to me (especially because I never owned one before) was the bold, loud, fire red lipstick by NYX Cosmetics in Pure Red. It’s so out of my normal look…I’m more a classic nude shade lipstick type of girl…but hey, branching out and trying new things is what fashion is all about, right?
So…I wore it, loved it, felt extra sexy with it and now it’s a color I incorporate more and more into my outfits.
Clearly I’m late to this craze but hey…better late than never. So, let’s check out other red lip lovers, shall we?
I really tried to pick women with all different skin tones, hair colors and styles…because believe it or not, red lips are totally hot for all women. So don’t be afraid to try it out.
Here are some of my picks for great red lips:
I’m an olive skin tone, so I like my reds with a little purple tone. I purchased the YSL in Mysterious Red and it has the perfect balance of reds to give me the affect I want without making me feel like I’ve gone overboard.

So as you guys can see…red has many options. The best advice I can give is to try, try and try…head to your makeup store and compare the hues and the tints. Your red should be something that makes you feel empowered not silly. And before there were all these rules about keeping the rest of the makeup subtle if you chose red lips, but I say….rules are meant to be broken so wear your red lips out any way you like…as long as you feel good, you will look good. I personally prefer them with a cat-eye liner but I think also with deep smoky eyes it looks beautiful or you could chose like Kate Bosworth did above…bold lips, calm eyes. It’s really up to you.
