Well, there’s no hiding it…retro glamour has crept its way back into modern day fashion. For the last couple of years, we’ve seen the trend show up almost every year in at least one designer’s collection

Launching this revolution has been of course the extremely popular show “Mad Men”…a show that gives us a glimpse into the lives of powerhouse advertising agents in the 1960’s. From the stylish décor to the ever present martini lunches…the most important and glamorous aspect is without a doubt the fashion.

Oh the fashion…breathtaking, glamorous, feminine, sexy and styling that makes us want to reassess our own wardrobes. It’s become such a strong trend in modern fashion that Banana Republic has dedicated a whole line to the Mad Men madness.

It’s not just clothing companies that have noticed this major trend, almost every time of advertiser is jumping on this retro bandwagon, check out this link from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/03/18/business/media/0418ADCO_SLIDESHOW.html

So it’s fair to say that “Mad Men” fever has officially consumed us all. The two things we consistently saw with this trend are pencil skirt dresses and full skirt dresses…both of which are totally feminine and always beautiful. Here are some of our favorite options to help you get inspired next time you’re hosting a cocktail party with friends:

So Ladies, next time you wonder what to wear…give a consideration to these modern day interpretations of vintage lines and styling. Add a big chucky necklace or cuff, grab a fun clutch and put on some high heels…you’ll be looking retro chic in no time.

And just a little fun addition to this post, we were at an event and had the most delicious cocktail made of Xanté cognac…and being wine drinkers, we were a little hesitant, but the drink was super delicious and it totally reminded us of a different time…so if you’re feeling like breaking out that cocktail shaker for your next soiree, give this recipe a try…serve in a martini glass and voila! Mad Men cocktails are your home!
Xanté Ginger Martini
1 1/2 oz Xanté
1 1/2 oz lemon juice
1 oz sugar syrup
1 small piece of fresh ginger
Muddle the ginger, add Xanté, freshly pressed lemon juice and sugar syrup. Shake and sift twice. Pour into martini glass and enjoy!

Till next time, Ladies!

XOXO,
