These weeks four of the most important fashion centers, New York, London, Milan and Paris, become a huge catwalk. We get a chance to see designers' art come to life during fashion week. Although this is not a typical "city" post, we are taking you to London and sharing with you our favorite designers' collection for the Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 season.
We're excited about London's fashion week because it has a very funky and energetic vibe. We have seen so many collections and shows that we loved. And in our opinion, having a variety of styles to draw from allows us all to be creative in our own clothes...which we feel is important. Originality and interpretation of fashion is such a great way to exude your personality so our advice is to take in all that you see, the trends that you like and create a style that is unique to you as a person. Remember, you wear the clothes...the clothes don't wear you!
We saw this way of thinking so clearly in the stylish women attending the shows...all rocking a trend or two, but each of these ladies doing it in their own personal way...that is true style. Never follow a trend blindly, always make it your own. We think these ladies did fashion perfectly. They were creative in their choices, colors and styling and we absolutely loved that even though it's only February, they managed to incorporate some Spring colors and keep their looks fresh and young. Way to inspire us, Ladies!
Now, let's take a look at some of our favorite collections of London Fashion Week.
Mary Katrantzou had been working for Longchamp and Topshop, but now she designing her own collection under her name. Her collection was energetic and fun. We saw bold graphics and colorful prints...it was creativity at its best. She won the Emerging Talent for Ready-to-Wear award at the British Fashion Awards in 2011...so yeah, she's definitely on her way to being a major player.
Designer Sarah Burton continues to keep Alexander McQueen in the mainstream of the fashion world. The name has become synonymous with luxury and innovation. Here we are showing you some pictures from the second line, McQ, where Sarah was able to create a collection of military lines with romantic floral dresses...now that is one combination we never thought we'd see and love so much!
Stella McCartney continues to be one of the most sought after designer in the world. Her client list includes celebrities such as: Rihanna, Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, Amber Valletta, and Shalom Harlow. What we loved about her fashion show was that she broke the mold and did something totally different. She used a small theater and surprised her guests with a flash mob and added a magician for good measure. Here are some fashion show pictures and some shots from her upcoming collection. Vibrant, colorful, fun...just like the designer herself. Anyone that puts on a show like that is our type of girl...Go, Stella!
