In the midst of all the fashion weeks, there is one day that shines like a golden star and that is the Sunday of the Academy Awards.
This year, the
84th Annual Academy Awards (or Oscars as they’re often called) will take place on Sunday February 26th, 2012 and this is one fashion show we simply can’t miss. We’ll be glued to the TV like many other fashionistas checking out just what everyone is wearing…but until we see what they have decided on, we thought we’d give our opinion on who and what we think they’d look great in.

First off, let’s start with the multiple Oscar nominated (17 nominations) and twice winner, the incomparable
Meryl Streep. She’s nominated this year for her work in “
The Iron Lady”. We’ve always admired her poise, confidence and elegant demeanor which is why we chose something classic but definitely not stuffy for her. We know she likes to keep her arms covered, so here is what we chose for her although we have a feeling that whatever she decides to wear to the Academy Awards will not disappoint us.

Up next is the equally talented and critically acclaimed
Glenn Close. She is a six time Oscar nominee and perhaps 2012 will be the first year she wins an Academy Award. She is nominated for her role in the film “
Albert Nobbs”. Glenn is a woman that has aged beautifully and she still has a fabulous figure so we used some fishtail dresses to accentuate her waist. With a gorgeous face like hers, everything is bound to look amazing.

One of two new ladies in this category is the talented
Viola Davis. She’s been around for a while, but it wasn’t until “
The Help” that she caught the attention of mainstream audience and most importantly, garnered the praise of her peers. This is her first nomination in the leading lady category but we’re certain not her last. She is a beautiful woman that carries herself with pride and confidence, which is why we chose these options. She has beautiful skin and we think it’s great to show it off by displaying her shoulders.

The other new lady on the block is Hollywood’s newest “it” girl,
Rooney Mara. Since storming on the scene with one of the biggest blockbuster of the past year, “
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, she has become the one to watch in the young Hollywood circle. She is young, beautiful and kind of mysterious…so of course, we chose to change her look up a bit and push her out of her comfort zone with these modern-day princess gown. Not only are they pretty but they are interesting and anything but ordinary…just like Rooney Mara herself.

Last but certainly not least is the beautiful and sweet
Michelle Williams. This second Oscar nomination was received after her work in “
My Week with Marilyn”. We love her simple and feminine sense of style and we really enjoyed “dressing” her for this post. Because of her beautiful fair skin, we had to chose colors that would enhance it and not wash her out. We think if she wears something similar to the Oscars she’s bound to land on a “Best Dressed List”…again.

So, Leading Ladies…we wish you all the best of luck as you battle it out for the coveted Oscar…and in our eyes, you’re all fashion winners. We’ll be watching, checking out your gorgeous gowns and cheering you on from just the other side of the camera lens.
XOXO,
Las Bellas
